This series was made when I received a one year fellowship at the International Women’s Foundation of Marfa, Texas, an iconic artists colony. The Fellowship was designed for mature mid career women artists in photography. I photographed a lot there including my series Horses, In Loving Memory of My Dearest Friend Connie Kelley, my teacher, my trainer and closest friend who died suddenly very young. Connie taught me everything I know about horses even though I had been riding since I was eight with my first beloved horse, Buttermilk! Connie was my dressage trainer and brought me to a level four on my phenomenal horses Damascus and Boscoe who I miss dearly.
